The Ploughmans Rest

On a working farm, the Ploughman held one of the most skilled and essential roles. Responsible for preparing the fields for sowing, he guided the horses or oxen with precision, turning the earth, shaping furrows, and setting the rhythm for the seasons ahead. His work demanded strength, patience, and an intimate understanding of soil, weather, and the living landscape—laying the foundation for every harvest to come.

The Ploughman’s Rest at Dabrian Homestead draws inspiration from this timeless craft. Thoughtfully designed and quietly luxurious, it offers a warm retreat that honours the rhythm of working the land. Inside, layered textures, soft lighting, and natural materials create an inviting, grounded atmosphere—an echo of the ploughman’s deep connection to earth and season.

A sumptuous bed dressed in crisp linens invites deep rest after days spent exploring the Burren. From your windows and outdoor seating area, you can watch the animals grazing in the surrounding fields—goats wandering, cattle shifting gently through the grass—offering a simple, grounding pleasure that slows the mind and softens the day.

The compact yet beautifully considered kitchen, moody interiors, and handcrafted details bring a sense of calm and simplicity, while the private firepit is perfect for evenings spent watching dusk fall over Mullaghmore.

Rooted in heritage yet refined for the modern traveller, The Ploughman’s Rest is a cosy, elegant space where comfort, countryside history, and the quiet life of the farm come together in a distinctly Dabrian way.

What Our Guests Say

A fabulous place for a reset

Had a gorgeous solo two-night stay in one of Aisling’s shepherd huts. The interior and exterior have a high quality, comfortable finish with a nice addition of an outdoor cold shower with robes provided. The location felt safe and peaceful, surrounded by fields where sheep, horses and alpacas were grazing! A great location to explore Clare with the Burren practically on the doorstep and the coastal areas a 30 to 40 min drive. A fabulous place for a reset 💖.

It couldn’t be better

Highly recommended. Beautifully decorated cabin with stunning views, sheep, llamas and cows in front of the door and total silence. 5 minutes drive to Corofin and 5 minutes drive to the Burren. It couldn’t be better!

Aisling and her family were wonderfully welcoming

Our stay at Dabrian was exactly what we needed to unwind. Waking up to the peaceful farm surroundings and animals each morning made settling into the hut feel like home. The thoughtful decor and clean, comfortable setup added to the cosy and homely vibe. Exploring the Burren and the nearby spots around County Clare, from local pubs to hikes up Mullaghmore, just moments from Dabrian was incredible. Aisling and her family were wonderfully welcoming, greeting us with fresh scones, milk, and friendly conversation. We highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet, restorative escape.
